Compound Ventures is a privately held investment firm. We find and acquire exceptional businesses in food, hospitality, leisure and related sectors. We are the kind of owners founders actually want to sell to.
Start a conversation →No committees, no approval chains. We move when it matters.
When you call, you speak with the people who write the cheques.
We invest for the long term and care about what happens after close.
We have built, run and sold businesses ourselves. We know what is at stake.
Robert spent over 45 years acquiring, optimising and exiting businesses across commercial and industrial services. He founded Axis Management Group, built it into a formidable operation and sold it to a prominent publicly listed company in 2005 - before being retained to oversee and drive the PLC’s own acquisition strategy, resulting in over £500m of further transactions. At Compound Ventures, Robert leads due diligence, shapes commercial strategy and ensures capital is deployed with discipline.
An avid traveller since the 1970s - he once crossed the globe in a renovated ambulance. Passionate golfer and red wine enthusiast, now happily based in Australia.
Timothy has taken businesses through complex growth arcs - from ambitious independent operators to global brands. As VP of Operations he owned a $300m P&L across 400 outlets in 25 countries. He leads all investment activity at Compound Ventures and guides strategy and operations across the portfolio.
A lifelong fitness enthusiast, though he admits this is routinely derailed by his devotion to cooking, baking and cigar lounges. Usually found reading in an espresso bar between deals.
Originally from Johannesburg, Dev has an instinct for seeing around corners. He acquired a business in the luxury wellness sector, scaled revenues several fold and exited via trade sale - before building a track record as a strategic advisor to ambitious SMEs. At Compound Ventures, Dev oversees operations and business development from first conversation through to close.
A voracious reader and whiskey aficionado. One of the earliest adopters of YouTube content creation - ask him for his 2006 links. Proud father of the impossibly adorable Alicia.
Charlotte is the person who actually keeps Compound Ventures running. She ensures every enquiry is handled with warmth and discretion, the team is organised and focused, and nothing falls through the cracks. In reality, she is the MD of the MD.
Devoted to her beautiful daughters, fashion and all things Italian - Crodino, oysters, pasta, you name it. If she is not in London, she is almost certainly in Il Bel Paese.
A business is rarely just a business. It is a life’s work, a legacy, a responsibility to the people who helped build it. We understand that - and it shapes every conversation we have with a founder.
We look for well-run businesses with real bones - strong customer relationships, defensible niches, and capable teams who deserve a great next chapter. If Compound Ventures loves it, we buy it and own it properly.
Sometimes one great business is the seed of something bigger. Compound Ventures pursues acquisition-led growth strategies - both within our own portfolio and as advisors to owners who want to scale through smart consolidation rather than organic growth alone.
Good businesses sometimes find themselves in bad situations. We have the operational depth to step in, cut through complexity and rebuild momentum. Where others see distress, Compound Ventures often sees opportunity hiding in plain sight.
The less shiny, the better. Compound Ventures has an appetite for businesses others might overlook - the gem that no one has properly resourced, the multi-site group that just needs sharper commercial thinking. If any of the below sounds like you, we should talk.
Food and beverage, hospitality, leisure, and adjacent services. We understand these industries from the inside.
Typically £1m to £20m. We are comfortable with complexity and do not need a business to be perfectly packaged.
Profitable or near-profitable with clear headroom. We are not venture investors - we want something real to build from.
Full exits, partial sales, succession situations, MBOs. Compound Ventures is flexible on structure and motivated by finding the right outcome for you.
There is no wrong time to start a conversation. Whether you are ready now or planning ahead, Compound Ventures would rather know you early.
We have sat where you are sitting. We have built businesses, worried about payroll, negotiated with landlords, and eventually faced the question of what comes next.
That experience shapes every conversation Compound Ventures has with a founder - and it is why owners tell us that speaking with us felt different from speaking with anyone else.
Your staff, customers and competitors will not know we have spoken. Every enquiry is handled with the discretion it deserves.
You speak directly with the people who make decisions. No associates managing the relationship while the real team does other things.
Full exit, partial sale, equity rollover, earn-out. Compound Ventures approaches every deal with fresh eyes and no preference for a particular template.
Our small team means fewer moving parts and faster decisions. We remove the bureaucracy that slows everyone else down - without sacrificing rigour.
Compound Ventures also provides equity capital to ETA and SMB acquisition entrepreneurs - experienced operators who have identified a business to acquire and need a thoughtful, engaged capital partner alongside them.
We back individuals with genuine sector knowledge, a credible thesis and the capability to run and grow what they buy. We are not passive investors. We bring judgement, network and operational experience to every partnership.
Currently active in the following markets:
Operators with sector depth, a clear target and a credible plan. Searchers, independent sponsors and first-time acquirers with real substance.
Equity capital, due diligence support, deal structuring expertise and ongoing strategic input. We sit alongside you, not above you.
Share your thesis with us. Even early-stage conversations are welcome - we would rather know you before the deal than after it.
Whether you are thinking about this seriously or just beginning to wonder what your options might look like - no pressure, no obligation, no pitch deck. Just a proper conversation with people who have been there.
Leave your details and we will be in touch - usually within one business day.
We will never share your details with any third party. All enquiries are treated with strict confidence.
